Dr. Jennifer Brooks is excited to join the San Anselmo community and to serve as a family dentist to the next generation of Dr. David Van Peursem’s patients. When looking for a practice to join, she wanted a place where patients felt at home, a friendly atmosphere with an emphasis on quality of care, not quantity. Dr. Van Peursem’s office delivered on all of those metrics and more, and she couldn’t be more excited to continue in the tradition of fun, friendly, high standard dentistry.
Dr. Brooks attended the University of Florida, for both undergraduate (BS Zoology, 1997) and dental school (DMD, 2002), she has been licensed to practice in Florida, Georgia and California.
In the practice, Dr. Brooks emphasizes open communication, conservative treatment and beautiful, natural looking restorations to support optimal oral health. She enjoys the camaraderie of the dental practice setting among the doctor, patients and staff and truly feels that being a dentist is the best job in the world!
Dr. Brooks participates in numerous continuing educational classes throughout the year; as a member of the Seattle Study Club, the Hinman Society, and through classes at the University of the Pacific, she stays up to date on the latest techniques and materials to provide the most advanced care and latest research for her patients.
She was named to Incisal Edge magazine’s “Top 40 dentists under 40”, has served the Georgia Dental Association on the board of the Georgia Dental Insurance Services, and was elected to the prestigious Hinman Dental Society.
She founded her first dental practice in a town just south of Atlanta, Georgia- Gentle Dentistry of Newnan. After the birth of her daughter, Dr. Brooks hired an associate dentist to share in the practice, who eventually became a partner (2012) and now owns the practice entirely (2015). When their son came along, and Jennifer and her husband Jason continually discussed where they wanted to raise their family. Many options were floated, with Marin at the top of the list, but when an opportunity to move to London with Jason’s company came available, they couldn’t pass up the chance to live abroad. Living in London, Dr. Brooks kept up her work in the dental practice, flying in to see the patients and staff she loved. As their time as expats came to an end, and the practice in Georgia sold, they finally had the luxury to choose where to permanently lay down roots. Because of the natural beauty, the people, the towns, the lifestyle, Southern Marin is it!
We have two fantastic chairside assistants, who many will remember from their work with Dr. Van Peursem… Julie and Christina are tops at making sure our patients are comfortable, and that Dr. Brooks’ procedures go smoothly and quickly.
I have been a dental assistant for over a decade now and still love my job. In 2004, after I received my credential from College of Marin - Dental Assisting Program, I became part of a team in one of the most wonderful offices in Marin.
I love working closely with people, especially easing any fear our patients may have. I love that I am part of an incredible team creating a pleasant experience for our patient.
I have been an RDA for 12 years and have been a part of the Van Peursem/Brooks team since 2013. I love the constant interaction I have with my coworkers and patients. It keeps my days fun and lively! When I am not busy at work, my daughters, Tiana and Malia, keep me entertained and on my toes! My husband and I are always on the hunt for new places to eat, so please share those good eats with me when you are in the office! My idea of a perfect day includes watching my beloved SF Giants play great baseball while sipping on a cup of Philz coffee!
Karin and Gina are the smiling faces greeting you as you enter, and the kind voices you encounter on the phone. They keep the schedule tidy to minimize waiting, help you navigate the maze of insurance coverage and make sure you understand any upcoming appointments. They keep the office humming!
I have for the 3rd time rejoined this fantastic dental team. I have been blessed to have had more than 30 years as a Registered Dental Assistant. You will find, as I have, this is an atmosphere of not only great dental care, but team support as well.
Dr. Brooks, as well as all the staff, are always ready to listen, explain, educate, and reassure each and every one of her patients. Perfection is always her goal. She, as well as the entire staff, make every effort to have everyone feel at home.
On a more personal note, I have returned to California, my home. I have over the years been able to live in wonderful places, like Alaska, Louisiana, Hawaii, New Jersey, Michigan and of course California. I graduated from Orange Coast College – Dental Assisting in 1982. I have been a Chairside Assistant, Surgical Assistant and Dental Assisting Instructor. I have had the opportunity to work along some very talented dentists and staff. Never a day goes by where I don’t try to learn something new.
I have three very awesome adult children; Wesley, Zach and Ashley. My interest are varied from Outrigger paddling, Zumba, hiking, skiing, reading or crafts to name a few.
I look forward to sharing your dental experience with you and making it as comfortable as possible. You may arrive as a patient but you will leave as a friend.
I am the newest member of Dr. Brooks’ staff, I have been in the dental field for 12 years, the majority of which were working in Oral Surgery. I look forward to meeting everyone and this new adventure with Dr. Brooks! I have two small children, Dillon and Avery; In my spare time, I enjoy camping, day trips to the beach, hiking and just spending lots of time with my family.
We have 4 fantastic hygienists, who are each committed to helping you maintain oral health. We are fortunate to have such thorough, caring professionals, who each bring their own unique spin to keeping your mouth clean!
Back in the day, I used to be an Accountant. All day long, I would analyze, calculate and interface with computers. Boring! So I chose to be a Dental Hygienist instead. People are so much more fun, and the work is so very rewarding that I look back to this day and thank my lucky stars I made such a fortuitous decision. I attended the University of California San Francisco Dental School, graduated with honors, and began my clinical practice in Marin County while continuing to work at the University. There, I became a Research Coordinator and a Clinical Instructor, but my heart was always in clinical practice. So, here I am, after ten years with David and now so excited to be working with Jennifer Brooks! I look forward to many years of continuing friendships and the opportunity to make a meaningful and tangible difference in peoples' oral health.
I graduated with my associates’ degree in dental hygiene in 1994 from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. My interest in dentistry started at an early age, working in my father's dental practice on Cape Breton Island. I moved to the Marin County in 1995. My passion is cycling, and being a mom to 2 boys.
I have been a dental hygienist since 1991. After graduating from UC Davis with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and a short time in research, I knew I wanted to be in healthcare, working with people to make a positive change in their lives. I graduated from UCSF School of Dentistry and directly moved to Marin. I enjoy trail running, mountain biking, and fell in love with Mt. Tam and beautiful Marin. I worked as a temporary Hygienist with Dave for many years and am very excited to be a part of Dr. Brooks’ team, continuing to provide our community with the highest level of care and compassion. I am married with two kids, still enjoy running and cycling, skiing and travel.
