Meet The Doctor

Dr. Jennifer Brooks

Dr. Jennifer Brooks attended the University of Florida both for undergraduate (BS Zoology ’97) and dental schools (DMD 02); She joined the San Anselmo community in 2015 when she moved to the Bay Area with her husband Jason and two children, Ava and Miles; after living in Atlanta for 10 years, and most recently, London for 3 years. She and Jason are delighted to finally make Fairfax their permanent home.

In the practice, Dr. Brooks emphasizes open communication, conservative treatment, and beautiful, natural looking restorations to support optimal oral health. She enjoys the camaraderie of the dental practice setting among the doctor, patients and staff, and truly feels that being a dentist is the best job in the world!

She was named to Incisal Edge Magazine’s “Top 40 dentists under 40” a few (cough, clears throat) years ago; she is an active member of the Marin County Dental Society, and is a member of a local chapter of Spears study clubs, a group of dentists in the community who meet monthly to learn together, share complex cases with each other and generally support one another professionally. She enjoys attending roughly double the required continuing education courses per year, because, as her children like to remind her, she is a total nerd. She would call it commitment to providing her patients with the most advanced care and knowledge of latest research and techniques, but you know, kids…

Front Office Staff

Karin and Gina are the smiling faces greeting you as you enter, and the kind voices you encounter on the phone. They keep the schedule tidy to minimize waiting, help you navigate the maze of insurance coverage and make sure you understand any upcoming appointments. They keep the office humming!

Karin Charlton- Office Manager

I feel blessed to have more than 30 years experience in dentistry. I graduated from Orange Coast College – Dental Assisting in 1982 (yikes). I have been a Chairside Assistant, Surgical Assistant and Dental Assisting Instructor. I have had the opportunity to work along some very talented dentists and staff. Never a day goes by where I don’t try to learn something new.

I have, over the years, been able to live in wonderful places, like Alaska, Louisiana, Hawaii, New Jersey, Michigan and of course California, my home. I have three awesome adult children and two beautiful grandchildren. My interests are varied, from outrigger paddling, hiking, skiing and reading. Happily, most of my free time is spent playing with my grandchildren.

I look forward to sharing your dental experience with you and making it as comfortable as possible. You will find, as I have, this is an atmosphere of not only great dental care, but team support as well.

You may arrive as a patient, but you will leave as a friend.

Leanora Kent-Donery, Registered Dental Assistant

I am a Marin County native and fell in love with dentistry after being encouraged to pursue a career in it by a friend. I received my degree in dental assisting at College of Marin in 2008 and became a Registered Dental Assistant the same year. I have enjoyed working for a few dental offices in Marin but found my home here at Dr. Jennifer Brooks! The team atmosphere along with a supportive, exciting, and knowledgeable staff have helped me to be the best I can be! I love helping patients find their best smile possible and that happens here every day!

I am married and have two amazing children plus quite a few pets. We all love our family outings, especially camping, walking, and going to the beach.

Shaila Jaffe, Dental Hygienist

I grew up in Woodacre and came to Dr Van Peursem as my childhood dentist (previous dentist before Jennifer Brooks). After I graduated MCHS I was attending COM unsure as to what I wanted to do so I decided to be an Au Pair in Vienna and before I left, I got my teeth cleaned by the dental hygienist and she mentioned to me about Dental Hygiene as a possible career. When I returned that is exactly what I started to pursue. I graduated from University of Maine in 2000 and have been working in Marin since. I love a beautiful smile and I love working with people and educating them on their dental health and how to achieve it. I’m now working in the room that the hygienist spoke to me about a career in, FULL CIRCLE!!! I’m grateful to be a part of this amazing team where collaboration and teamwork blend easily.

I am married and have two wonderful teenage sons. I enjoy hiking, gardening, shopping, dancing, dining, and hanging out with good friends and family.

Neda Farrokhnia, Dental Hygienist

I fell in love with dentistry while working with an oral surgeon as a dental assistant. That is when I decided to get my degree in dental hygiene and switched majors. In 2005, I enrolled at the University of Southern California and received my bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene

I worked in a general dentistry for a few years and became interested in the periodontal side of dentistry. In 2016 I enrolled at the University of Pacific and received my degree in Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP). As an RDHAP I can provide in-home preventive dental hygiene care

At the same time, I volunteered in the Marin community dental clinic to help adults and children of low income achieve better overall dental health. After 15 years working for offices in the Bay Area. I returned to my favorite hometown of San Rafael to work with the amazing Dr. Brooks and her team. My passion is educating my patients on oral hygiene and the importance of overall general health.

I’m happily married to my loving husband, and we enjoy cooking together, traveling, hiking, running, and most importantly spending time with family & friends!

Sue Parsons, Dental Hygienist

I have been a dental hygienist since 1991. After graduating from UC Davis with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, and a short time in research, I knew I wanted to be in healthcare, working with people to make a positive change in their lives. I graduated from UCSF School of Dentistry and directly moved to Marin. I enjoy trail running, hiking, and mountain biking with my husband and two kids in beautiful Marin. I am very excited to be a part of Dr. Brooks’ team, continuing to provide our community with the highest level of care and compassion.

Chancy Paa'aina, Registered Dental Assistant

I have been an RDA since 2003, and with Dr. Brooks since 2015. I love the constant interaction with my coworkers and patients. It makes my work days fun and lively! I enjoy every aspect of my job and really do appreciate working for such a close knit, family oriented practice.

When I’m not working, my family keeps me very busy! I live in Fairfax with my significant other and together we share 3 kids, a dog and a cat. There is NEVER a dull moment with them and I love every second of it. We love spending our free time out at Stinson Beach or in our yard, bbq-ing and listening to music. If the sun’s out, we’re out!

I’m a loyal lover of Philz coffee, Giants baseball and good food! We’re always looking for yummy places to eat or fun places to visit so please share those with me if you have any favorites!
